A bike ride on a rare foggy morn on Dixie Highway in Oakland Park, Fla. "My Bike" by The Dell Griffiths
The kind of innocence it takes to make a scene like this will NEVER be recaptured by Hollywood
GODDESS LUCY & OSIRIS PAT DIMAURO, Owners' Of Eternity. Sunday, April 14, 2024, AD, CE, & Common Era, 8:27 am, EST.
bit of an unoriginal film gorillas already done in king kong not long before. why not something diffeent?
Who knew a song with such a ridiculous title could be so beautiful and meaningful. Gotta love Bob
There's such a magic to this film in all aspects, but the effects especially. Even to this day, it's a mystery to me how they were able to synchronize ol' Joe with the live action actors so well. I guess that's what happens when you have 2 of the greatest minds in the artform (Willis O'Brien and Ray Harryhausen) on the same production.
Beautiful and Royally staged. Brought a tear to my eye. Touching to see the deep relationship between the two lead players as they soar above the superficial throngs of the nightlife. On another level, the incredible orchestration and arrangement of the song and visuals buttress this theme. This is a profound combination of art, music, and science that shows how utterly BRILLIANT the artistic human mind can be! Unsurpassed! Yes, I am always emotionally moved by this scene due to all of these elements.

I have the blue work shirt with US Mustard Company Dayton Ohio and the phrase “Contain Yourself” from the tour
I'm the best!
ZLZlZl.
Still better than CGI.
"his life long friend".. well, in the past six months. Denham was always an asshole. Kong, Kongs son, Joe Young..the list goes on. Excellent character though, played by Robert Armstrong here and Jack Black in the recent versions.
Thanksgiving movie.
This is an amazing melody
Reminds me of being 9 on Thanksgiving day.

When I first seen this movie as a little boy back in the 1960's and this scene came about, I was floored by this musical scene. This scene brought tears from my eyes for some odd reason. Even today in 2023 when I see this scene, it still brings tears to my eyes.
Beauty can do that.
😢😢😢😢😮
Tube el orgullo de ir a correr con ella 👍🥰
Back in the 1960s and 1970s in NYC Channel 9 (WOR) presented this movie every few months, usually in the afternoons . It was regular "Old movie fare" that Channel 9 used to show. In the newspaper TV-program guide, the movie would usually be described as a "sentimental yarn" and would be given maybe three stars out of 5. It was not considered a particularly good movie by more-modern standards of some two or three decades later. But now that even more decades have come and gone since it was first made, and there is an odd element of comparison between "Golden age" special effects, and " Computer age" special effects and the internet can present it to younger generations and also bring it back to older generations, one can realize how much this movie was a spectacular part of Hollywood fantasy even though it was to be considered a cheap old movie as time went on.
Healing through musical epiphany! Songs so beautiful their harmonies & melodies birth Aeons of new Love!
Amazing combination of live filming and stop-motion animation. Among the finest work done by the greatest of them all, Ray Harryhausen who learned his craft from Willis O’Brien , the creator of King Kong and worked with him on this film.
It's brilliant.
This was a great movie l always watched it growing up. 👏📽❤
almost 3 minutes long
the greatest bass player in the world certainly deserves a park named for him.
This scene is oddly moving. Good movie too, with a fine cast. Loved seeing the great Ben Johnson as a young and handsome guy.
(Officially) released 15 years old today
Joe young
This guy is beautiful dreamer to him mighty fanel fabien
A true eccentric in a too sane world
This scene is as awe-inspiring to me now as it was when I first saw it more than fifty years ago -- I want to stand up and applaud -- seriously, who wouldn't have wanted to be in that audience for something like that? Encore!
Great how the danger/excitement music is sewed into the song and returns to the song.
I like this. Movie. Mighty. Joe. Young. Beautiful. Song My. Mother. Likes. It. Too.
J P was one of those fortunate types who actually became more handsome as he grew older .
What a beautiful movie!!!😆
I'm guessing that the dislike vote came from a Deathcab for Cutie fan.
I'd guess that the average DCFC fan would be able to dig this. Ben Gibbard is a fan of GBV.
"joseph young the eighth wonder in the world"
is ernest farino still alive?
And thanks for using this song in the 1998 Movie with Bill Paxton and Charlize Theron...and the Cameo of Terri Moore and Ray Harryhausen.
I love this Movie...thank you, Ray, where ever you are now.
Carl Denham got his hands in everything

Still one of the most amazing movie scenes I have ever seen in a fantasy film and who can argue with Stephen Foster. Great post for younger people who aren't familiar with this style of film production. Just saw the Rock in Rampage and things are so refined with computer animation it almost seems oddly phony compared to this. Granted, it may be nostalgia influencing my perception but this looks cool. Production values are outstanding IMO.
These movies had soul and were better than the CGI stuff now
"Joe Mystery" Computer animation is more technological and in certain ways can produce images that look more 'real" but it tends to be overdone and some of the classic or older special effects of the pre 1960s can be amazing to watch.
@@obscurelyvague Yes no doubt, LM. Thanks for shout out 3 years later. Wow time flies.
Ray Harryhausen himself played cymbals on our newly recorded version of this piece of music! www.mmmrecordings.com/MJY/mjy.html
Rest in peace Mr Donleavy. Know you are all but alive to so many still. To rest forever satisfied that that fist you shook produced such beauty that could change a life. O to be able to say thank you in words that could convey a gratitude that is truly heartfelt. It doth Make you Still.
